Countdown To Skate Updates

do it!Hey Skaters! You’re all too awesome for words!

We are only ONE MONTH away from the actual Skate For Diabetes! I’m excited to see all of your faces as you show off your skills, dare each other to skate backwards, and help you create memories that will last a life time.

Mark your calenders, set reminders, and yell it from the rooftops. The Skate For Diabetes is being held Saturday, September 7th from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Silver Star Skate Center in Mattoon, Illinois. Admission is only $5 to get you in the door, skates on your feet, and access to the play land area for the little ones who don’t want to skate. Bring your friends, family, and favorite aliens too!

What else is going on?

  • T Shirts are ordered! I hope I don’t have enough for everyone. I want a big turnout! The shirts will be $15 each and available is extra large, large, medium, and small. What happens if we run out of shirts or don’t have your size? No worries! We will take orders for more shirts at the event, and I will deliver them to you myself. Well, unless you’re on a far away island …or more than 20 miles away. We can ship them to you in those cases.
  • Wristbands are still plentiful and available! The wristbands are only $5 each, and you can purchase them now or at the event. That’s up to you. Email to get yours today!
  • Register For The Event! You can register as an individual or a Team! I really suggest getting a team together for some additional fun. You get your own fundraising page and tools as a registered participant. You’ll be able to customize messages to get friends, family, and coworkers to donate to the cause. What are you waiting for? Go register! Oh …the top fundraisers have a surprise waiting on them!
  • We Need Sponsors! Sponsorships are available to local businesses. Sponsorships can also be arranged for individuals who wish to help out even more. Sponsorship details can be found on the Sponsorship Opportunities page. It really helps make all of this possible!
  • Support Our Sponsors! Please visit the Meet Our Sponsors Page. These are the businesses and people who help make this event possible. I urge you to become their customers and friends. They’re a big help in our cause!

Fun With Photos!

Tashia is Awesome!

Tashia is Awesome!

One of our crew (Tashia) sent me the picture on the left. She was at the White Sox game when A Rod made his A Roid comeback while fighting suspension. Amidst all of that madness and baseball fun, she remembered to spread the message of the Skate For The Cure!

How about you? Do you have a wristband? Start taking photos of the band wherever you are! Get some attention! You can post the picture on Facebook and tag The Skate For Diabetes, or email me the photo at If I get enough photos, we will hold a contest for the best picture / place, and come up with a prize for the winner!

That’s a Wrap For Now

Thank you for all of your support! There’s still a lot of work to do. We still need to spread the message far and wide. We need to raise donations (click the “Support me” button) for the cure. Get out there! Action is the key!
